Model for 19th century Icelandic handwriting.
The idea behind this model was to take a small sample set of around 10.000 words from around twenty hands. Using a wide array of material from court documents, diaries, parliamentary records etc. to create a flexible model with wider applicability.
This yielded a small but solid model that can yield results on its own or as a good base model for most types of 19th century handwriting.
This model itself is the sole creation of Emil Gunnlaugsson but the financing was provided
by Centre for Digital Humanities and Arts and the source material by the National Archives
of Iceland and Icelandic Manuscript Institute.
